Pet-A-Cure (2949 W Diversey in Chicago) is the friendliest place to get your dog groomed.
All dogs get supreme pampering and the girls who work there even ‘sing’ to them. they also get a complimentary hand-made, collar cover with every groom! The three women who work there (including the owner) are all corporate professionals who got laid off and are making their dreams come true with dog grooming.

High school faculty of at least one northside school (Mather) encouraged students to just leave this morning even though it’s a regular school day because the staff hasn’t been teaching all week anyway. As a result, 1,200 teens between the ages of 13 and 18 are roaming the streets of Rogers Park. (Final grades had been entered into the Chicago Public Schools computer as of the morning of June 3, so faculty apparently had no lessons prepared for this week; it wasn’t being measured so what’s the point, seems to be the prevailing attitude handed down from downtown.) Students stood around outside Mather for awhile, unsure what to do next. Officials came outside and gave them the choice of coming back inside (which students knew would mean staring at the walls for the rest of the day) or vacating the grounds because CPS security regulations forbid loitering outside the grounds. The bottom line seems to be the security of the building, not the individuals who are supposed to be taught there and kept out of harm’s way.

I read about this bill Madigan is proposing. What a scumbag. It was his party that supported Blago and now he wants to fire innocent people that happened to be hired at the time the governor was in office? Ask the scumbag whatever happened to his investigation for campaign finance violations? Oh that’s right he just put that ugly offspring of his into the Attorney General position. This State is so corrupt it’s embarrassing. Maybe we should fire all the politicians that were in office when Blago ran the show and start fresh.

This is kinda reminiscent of that “Viaduct Virgin Mary” a couple years back under the Fullerton Exit on the expressway. I’ve been noticing small groups of people gathering around a brick wall that looks like Jesus on the SW corner of the Wood/Wabansia intersection. It looks more like winter water damage on the bricks to me; not some kind of image of the Lord that miraculously appeared. But I’m assuming the old ladies I saw in the crowd openly weeping with those Christ candles would probably disagree.

Legendary Lincoln Park Sicilian Barber Retires After 40 Year...

Legendary Lincoln Park Sicilian Barber Retires After 40 Years

As is the case with most legends, he is known by just one name, Franco. For 40 years, the stylish and friendly owner of Franco’s Hair Styling has greeted men of all hair styles and lengths into his barbershop at 2544 N. Clark Street with a smile. On a stretch of Clark Street that sees commercial business come and go like the Lake Michigan tide just a few blocks away, Franco is the one constant. “He is a Lincoln Park landmark,” says a neighbor who stops by every day just to say hello, “and we will all miss him very much.”

In his over 40 years of service, he probably has cut around 150,000 heads of hair in his humble shop. But what the number doesn’t tell, are the rich relationships that develop during a visit to Franco’s shop based on those promises described in his business card “Expert Hair Styling & Good Service”. Franco is woven into the lives of his customers’ major life events. Fathers bring in their sons for their first haircut. He regularly is asked to do the pre-wedding or pre-interview haircut. He even has out-of-town customers keep coming back to Chicago for their haircut.

Born and raised in Vizzini, Sicily, Franco still proudly displays the photo of learning his craft under his father’s watchful eye on his barber cabinet. Thankfully, he learned the craft well and shared his talents with thousands of Chicagoans over the years. On a sign posted on his front window announcing his retirement, Franco humbly says to the community, “I thank you for your business, your loyalty, and your friendship.” I speak for the entire Chicago community when I say: Thank you, Franco. Enjoy your retirement.

The story also mentioned that the PayDay Loan PAC was the largest contributor to his re-election campaign.

Just read (and enjoyed) the post about custom-made cereal. I noticed it had 4 photographs to go along with it. If an article like this requires 4 photos, why doesn’t the street style blog post have just as many? Especially when the whole point to those postings ARE the photos?
