I saw Alberta Cross last night and was surprised by a bunch of things. They were young as heck and tried to hide that fact by keeping their long hair in their faces. As young as they were, they had great stage presence, especially the lead singer. DCist mentioned they were from Brooklyn, but they actually were fron somewhere in the UK, dropped in the “Brooklyn music scene” by some label. They were tight, and smooth and seemed like they had been together for years. The first half of the show had a younger Neil Young feeling, and it was working. The lead guitarist was creating alot of sound, great sound, kind of like the Edge makes it sound like there are more instruments than on stage. The first half was more mello, letting you get a feel for their talent. The 2nd half they opened up more and rocked harder. They sounded more Zepplin like. The lead singer had it going on, great live voice. Some kid next to me said he saw them 3 months ago and there were 9 poeple there, last night the small room at the Black Cat was sould out. I don’t think I will be paying 10 bucks next time they come around, maybe a little more.

I’ve heard from multiple sources but no media outlets that there was a metro crash on the red line since the two wmata employee’s were killed. I don’t know the exact day but one night while a construction crew was working on the red line, a high rail truck drove through the off limits area secured for construction and crashed into various pieces of equipment. Had that equipment not been in the way the truck would have plowed through an entire construction crew. The accident was apparently not reported properly, which must be why no media outlets are covering it.

I live across the street from the Townhouse Safeway on 20th Street and we just awoke to the sound of breaking glass. Tall skullcap black dude in jeans just ran off down the alley with two plastic jugs of Haiti Relief money. Cops finally showing up. Took a few minutes to explain over the phone. Dude’s probably in Tahiti by now. Hearing sirens…
