Phoenix Bikes in Arlington will be hosting another bike workshop Thursday December 4 at 7 pm. The workshop will last an hour to an hour and half and will have plenty of opportunities for hands-on participation. Workshops are held the first Thursday of each month and topics vary. The upcoming topic will focus on wheels. We’ll cover how to change a tire, replacing a spoke, and wheel related issues. We recommend a $5 donation for participants of the workshop to help support Phoenix Bikes. For more information visit.

Inspector Edward Delgado of MPD’s Third District has done a brave and noble thing. Having become aware of the impending release of a 20-time recidivist robber, he has notified the community and urged citizens to let the DC Attorney General know how they feel about the issue.

Full details on the Prince of Petworth blog. WJLA has also picked up the story at http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/1108/571910.html

A 3D police inspector just posted the attached link onto the 3D message boards. I’m sure he’ll catch hell for this, but its about time someone in MPD sacked up and said what needs to be said about DC’s juvenile justice system.

There are a bunch of emails going around on area dog-oriented email lists this morning about the fact that the Omni Shoreham Hotel is including a “presidential puppy” with its $440,000 inauguration package. http://www.omnihotels.com/AboutOmniHotels/Press/PressReleases/081117PressRelease.aspx

Someone on one of the lists called Paul Sharp (202-756-5112 psharp@omnihotels) and confirmed that they mean a real puppy, not a stuffed animal.

Bringing a puppy into your family is a 10-20 year commitment, not a trivial matter to be included in a hotel package.

With all due respect, I question the decision to place Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. While she purports to be internationally alert, she may have a future agenda in 2012. Please watch out for her. It is not a good precedent to allow her to serve, knowing her past experiences. Obama, please be careful about this. I pray you will make the right decision.

District Of Columbia Claims Tax Official Embezzled $34 Million

WASHINGTON (CN) - A manager in the District of Columbia’s property tax division embezzled $34 million with help from a Bank of America branch manager and a woman who owns “home services” companies, the District claims in Superior Court. The conspiracy allegedly had begun by October 2000 through NationsBank, which Bank of America acquired in 2005. The District demands treble damages of $104 million from Bank of America, Harriette Walters, Walter Jones Jr., and Jayrece Turnbull.
