NY Mellon Bank made a dumb mistake and cancelled pension payments to over 60,000 NYC retired teachers who receive their pension payments via electronic deposit. The money was in our accounts on Nov. 1 but deducted earlier this morning. The bank apologized (see nymellon.com) and even claimed they would refund overdraft fees for those involved. Only in NY? There was a fight, then someone got shot. UPS man witnessed the incident and the UPS truck is part of the crime scene.
