At least 12 motorcycle cops (SFPD & CHP), cop cars and big SUV with dark windows. They stopped traffic crossing Sunset and heading north so this person could pass. That seems to anger people. If you gave $3,000 to 35 Bus Drivers it would amount to $105,000. These 35 Firefighters below received $828,000 in Bonus Pay or an average of $24,000 each in 2009. Why is there no visible outrage by the Board of Supervisors on these outrages bonuses by the SFFD? What is Firefighter, SFFD BONUS Pay? Below are 35 SFFD Chiefs. The total OVERTIME costs for the 35 Chiefs was $1,100,000. However they worked 16,000 hours at $70.00 an hour to earn that amount. Each Chief’s average overtime earning was $32,000. The BONUS Pay is giving money away. For the $828,000 worth of BONUS Pay, not a single extra hour had to be worked. Each Chief averaged $24,000 in BONUS Pay. FROM THE SF FIREFIGHTERS LABOR CONTRACT WITH THE CITY: SECTION 24. TRAINING AND EDUCATION ACHIEVEMENT PAY 6% bonus. Hazardous Materials Certificate 5% bonus. SECTION 26. EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN PAY 5% bonus. SECTION 27. APPARATUS Driver PAY 5% bonus. 29.4 Retention Pay 4% bonus. 29.5 Paramedic License Pay 5% bonus. 29.6 Night Shift Differential. 6.5% bonus. Bi-lingual pay. $36.00 bonus a week. Standby Pay. Assignment to the Emergency Communications Department 8% Bonus. 1% bonus in recognition of firefighters agreement to resume payment of the employee retirement contributions. 28.1 Members assigned by the Chief of the Department from the field to a forty (40) hour work week to perform administrative assignments as determined by the Chief of the Department will receive additional compensation of $175 biweekly. 29.8 Effective July 1, 2004, employees shall receive one percent 1% Terrorism Response Training Pay. Members on disability shall continue to receive Terrorism Response Training Pay. These BONUSES are doubly harmful to taxpayers because they are tacked on before calculating time and a half OVERTIME costs. In other words they drive up the cost of OVERTIME.
